WSCC’s statement regarding COVID-19 and temporary building closure

WSCC’s statement regarding COVID-19 and temporary building closure

July 14, 2020

The Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) continues to closely monitor news regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and protections ordered by state, county and city officials. In alignment with Governor Jay Inslee's Stay Home, Stay Healthy proclamation and subsequent Safe Start Washington plan, WSCC has temporarily closed the building until further notice. The Main Garage and Freeway Park Garage open.

On July 7 WSCC announced on its commitment to achieve the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation on outbreak prevention, response and recovery. Recognized as the gold standard of safe venues, GBAC STAR™ provides third-party validation to ensure the implementation of rigorous protocols in response to biorisk situations. Read the full media release here.

We look forward to the time when we can once again welcome clients, guests and visitors to the Convention Center. With this in mind, WSCC staff is available via phone and email to ensure business and administrative processes continue during the building closure. Staff contact information can be found on our website Contact Us page.

Our entire team of dedicated service professionals welcomes you to Washington State Convention Center. What makes Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) different from other facilities? In a word – service. Our staff includes best-in-the-business professionals with extensive knowledge in all aspects of meeting planning. We understand that whether you’re planning a company meeting or an international conference, it needs to be perfect from start to finish. And we have the experience and resources to make it happen.

Whether you have worked with our team before or this is your first time in our facility, this Event Planning Handbook will guide you through the process of planning your event at WSCC. This Handbook will introduce you to the procedures, regulations and timelines that will assist you in planning a smooth and efficient event. Our goal is to provide you with the information, resources and answers to your questions so that your attendees and exhibitors will have a safe and enjoyable experience while they are our guests. In addition to the many topics covered in this Handbook, detailed WSCC Guideline documents are available to provide technical or specific facility information to further assist in your planning.

By far, your most valuable resource as you plan your event will be your own personal and dedicated WSCC Event Manager (EM). Your EM will be assigned to you upon completing your Licensing Agreement (LA) with our Sales team. Or, for longer-term events, 18 months prior to your event. The more information we can share with one another throughout the planning process, the better we can serve your needs. (If you are still in contract negotiations, please contact your sales representative.)

We look forward to working with you and your team to create an extraordinary event!

Limited Building Access

Limited Building Access

Friday, August 30 – Monday, September 2, 2019

A major event, PAX West, will fully occupy the Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) from Friday, August 30 to Monday, September 2. This event may impact how you navigate the area around WSCC.

WSCC will be closed from 6:00 am – 10:00 am to the general public. During that time, only PAX West attendees will be permitted entrance after passing through security checkpoints, including metal detectors and bag checks. At approximately 10:00 am, the public will be allowed to enter the Center on the first floor after passing through security. Entrances on all other floors will remain closed.

Traffic and Parking

As with all major events at WSCC, we anticipate higher than usual traffic and pedestrian congestion, along with limited parking in the area. If parking in the WSCC Main Garage, please plan to exit via the 8th Avenue sidewalk and walk around the building to your destination. Access through the third-floor WSCC entrance will be restricted.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
